The gabled massing – or hut – is clad in western red cedar and features its own private deck for outdoor relaxation and meditation.

Meetinghouse is currently working with local artisans and builders to construct a small rear-yard addition for a Dutch Colonial kit home in Northampton. It is a place of peace for the owner separate from the existing house – a domestic oasis.

We designed a simple, gabled massing to contribute to an existing assemblage of backyard structures visible from a large picture window – including a yoga studio and workshop. We selected a calming interior palette that balances Scandinavian elements with hints of greenery: subtle aloe hues and the chalky texture of white-washed brick contrast with the blonde tones of the floor, mantle and furniture, and the matte black of the windows, fireplace and TV.
