What started as a kitchen and bath renovation grew into a total overhaul of this 19th-century home in Florence. Together with a local builder, we helped to maintain the historic character of the home while updating it for an active, creative family.
Custom cabinetry, a large island, and built-in window seat in the enlarged kitchen provide a central hub for daily life, while the reconfigured living room creates space for music and contemplation.
Upstairs, a new roof over the sun-filled primary suite allowed for higher ceilings, a walk-in closet, and modern bathroom. The other bedrooms were altered to create additional storage space and new window openings.
Through the renovation, the whole house was brought down to the studs, providing an opportunity for new siding and insulation.
