Transforming an aging storefront into a unique karaoke venue in the heart of Easthampton
When we first met the owner of Chickadee Karaoke, the former storefront home of Rhythm Section Music in downtown Easthampton was in rough shape. We replaced sagging floors, dated finishes, and aging infrastructure, and added an accessible bathroom to serve an expanding clientele.
While navigating applicable building codes, we carved out four private karaoke rooms, each with their own distinct character crafted in collaboration with the owner and local artists. The partitions between rooms and adjacent storefronts were designed to minimize acoustic transmission so visitors can really belt it out. Lighting, murals, wall art, furnishings, and interior finishes contribute to the lively yet intimate atmosphere.
